Accessing Existing Lists and Libraries in SharePoint Designer

The most direct route to accessing a site’s existing lists and libraries is via the Lists and Libraries tab in the left-hand navigation pane. However, you can also access existing lists and libraries as data sources through the Data Sources tab, where you also have the option of copying an existing list or library, modifying the fields, and filtering and sorting on the copied list or library data source. You can access and add data sources as List or Data views to pages throughout your site as an alternative means for manipulating and displaying data.
