Creating New Site Content Types

To create a new site content type, the first course of action is to decide where in the site collection you want to position that content type. For instance, if you want that content type to be available to all subsites within the site collection then you need to create the content type in the root site of the site collection. If you only want the content type to be available to a specific subsite then you create the content type within a subsite in a site collection. Remember that inheritance starts from the point of origin.
