Summary

In this chapter, you learned about working with content types and columns in SharePoint Designer. Obviously, a key enhancement in SharePoint Designer 2010 is the ability to create new content types and configure existing content types, which reduces the need to visit the Web interface to address configuration.

Content types and columns continue to be pivotal in designing SharePoint deployments. As you work with exercises throughout this book, you leverage content types for solutions including custom list forms, working with XSLT in SharePoint Designer, creating custom publishing page layouts, and creating custom workflows. In the next chapter, you learn more about applying content types and columns to lists and libraries.
