Create a New Site Template in SharePoint Designer 2010
In this section, you learn how to build a site and then save that site as a reusable site template for your site collection.

The following example assumes a SharePoint Server 2010 non-publishing site, or a site within a publishing site collection that does not have the publishing Feature enabled.
The first step to creating your own site template is to determine the type of common functionality you want to include in the template, such as lists and libraries, metadata, theme, and Features.
