Site Template Fundamentals

If you’ve previously worked with SharePoint then no doubt you are familiar with SharePoint sites. Every site created within a SharePoint deployment, including sites that host SharePoint site collections and subsites, is provisioned from a site template. Which version of SharePoint you are using determines the types of site templates available at the time you create new sites.
