Site templates are pivotal to a successful SharePoint deployment. If you fail to adequately identify the correct set of site templates for site collections and subsites at the outset of a SharePoint deployment then your entire SharePoint deployment is likely to fail. In this section, we touch lightly on how to use SharePoint 2010 site templates as part of provisioning a new site collection.
