Creating new Content Types

Now we are ready to create the schema for our Proposal Library through - a Content Type that will inherit from Document and extend it with our custom Proposal site columns. The Content Type can also have associated a Microsoft Word template file, so that as you create a "New Proposal", Microsoft Word will come up and launch with a Proposal document template, instead of simply a blank document.

Getting ready

Launch Microsoft Word and create a simple document to serve as your Proposal template. Save the file as ProposalTemplate.dotx.
