Leveraging Metadata and Content Types

Simply stated, metadata is data about data, and it plays an even more important role in the SharePoint 2010 ecosystem than in previous versions with the implementation of Managed Metadata. Without leveraging metadata, SharePoint libraries aren’t reaching their full potential, and a number of the powerful capabilities of SharePoint can’t be leveraged. To fully leverage SharePoint 2010 tools, IT should create a plan for standard columns that are added to lists and libraries of different types and should leverage managed metadata as well.
