CHAPTER 20 PowerShell

In previous versions of SharePoint, command line configuration was available via the STSADM tool. Although the tool is still available for use with SharePoint 2010, the recommended approach for managing a SharePoint farm via the command line is to use the new SharePoint 2010 Management Shell. This shell is a PowerShell instance with a collection of SharePoint-specific cmdlets (pronounced command-lets) installed. In this chapter, we’ll take a look at the new command shell and a few of the main cmdlets.
