Chapter 18. Managing Project Files

Project files are similar to any other Office file. People tend to start with the last best version of a project similar to the new one they are starting. This often leads to a pluralization of idiosyncratic and quirky approaches to managing similar projects—projects that would really benefit from some cross-group standardization.

Project provides an enormous amount of flexibility. It also provides mechanisms, such as templates, for standardizing project management practices across a small group of project managers. This chapter describes both. Larger groups of project managers should strongly consider the enterprise capability of Project Server.
