The DATASETS area of Power BI holds the raw data that makes up your reports. When you left-click on one of your datasets, the designer opens to build reports from the dataset. The designer can be used to do the following things:
- Create more Quick Insights
- Create new reports
- Refresh or schedule refreshes
- Manage permissions
- Download the Power BI Desktop file (.pbix)
When you start with a dataset, users can create new reports from your data, even when accessing it through the web.
