Onboarding with the Azure VM extension

If you have Linux workloads in Azure, you can onboard to Log Analytics using the Linux Azure virtual machine extension. Azure extensions for virtual machines are small applications that provide automation tasks and post-deployment configuration on Azure VMs. The Linux Azure VM extension can install the Linux agent for OMS and onboard the machine to your Log Analytics workspace.

Using the extension with your Azure VMs, ensures that they have the latest agent capabilities, features, and fixes, as the agent is upgraded automatically.

To configure the extension, perform the following steps:
