Getting ready

In order to use the runbook actions with alert rules, you must have the Automation solution installed in your OMS workspace. Other actions can be performed without this requirement. Additionally, we will go through a complete walk-through of creating an alert rule with a webhook to call a service such as Mockbin at http://mockbin.org/ or Slack at https://slack.com. Mockbin is a hosted service for creating custom endpoints for testing HTTP requests. Mockbin generates an endpoint based on criteria you specify and then allows any online service to hit that endpoint and receive a predefined response. Setup is easy, and we don't need an account to set up a new bin. To follow along, you will need to create a bin.
