In this section, we will look at how to set up disaster recovery (DR) for Azure VMs to a secondary Azure region. Note that, at this time, Azure VM replication with ASR is in preview. This means that the underlying functionality and replication steps are subject to change. For this reason, we will only cover relevant concepts in this section. Ensure that you are a member of the correct site recovery-related built-in roles to perform Site Recovery management operations. The Site Recovery contributor role or higher role is required to follow along in this section.
