The choice of component depends on the nature of the workload(s) you would like to protect. A Recovery Services vault is the storage entity in Azure that houses the protected data.
While various Backup components can also be used on premises, all of the Azure Backup components can be used to protect data in Azure. The Azure Backup components include:
