DSC refers to a documented set of characteristics on computers in a given environment. The configurations can vary widely in complexity and, as such, have immense value for such use cases as compliance enforcement and continuous deployment. Azure Automation DSC is based on PowerShell DSC and, because it is a cloud service, enables configuration management at scale and supports the management of heterogeneous physical computers and VM nodes, enabling nodes to connect to a DSC Pull server and automatically receive configurations.
