2.3. Getting Started: Selecting Data for the PivotTable

As shown in Figure 2-4 we're going to select all the data in the spreadsheet and see what we can do with the PivotTable tools in Excel. We're not going to worry about selecting just part of the data—we'll just go with everything and choose what we want from the PivotTable user interface. We can also just click the PivotTable icon itself instead of the drop-down arrow on the icon; we'll go immediately to the Create PivotTable dialog box and bypass the choice of PivotTable versus PivotChart.

  1. Left-click the top-left corner of data Cell A2, and while holding down the left mouse button drag the cursor to the bottom-right corner of data Cell M11.
