3.4. Excel What-If Applied to an Excel Table
Excel's What-If capability is a good example of the advanced statistical tools that are available to anyone that is willing to explore Excel features. Forecasting is not always a part of everyday office work, but on the other hand, we can all envision projections of data into months and years ahead—we just need to know how it works at our desktop.
Figure 3-24 shows how we start this process of What-If. Excel needs a column and a row of data that follow a pattern, any kind of pattern. Excel will do the job for us of projecting the pattern to fill in What-If cells that line up with the row value progression, and with the column value progression.
