Chapter 22. Creating Chart Slides

A carefully crafted chart can make even complex numeric information visually accessible and therefore easy to interpret and communicate.

When you create or edit a chart, PowerPoint uses Microsoft Graph, the same charting module used by Excel. Graph creates a chart, and while doing so it commandeers the PowerPoint window, replacing PowerPoint’s menus and toolbars with its own. When you click outside the border of the completed chart, the PowerPoint menus and toolbars reappear.

Starting a Chart

You can begin a new slide, or you can insert a chart in an existing slide.

Procedure 22.1. To start a chart:

1. Choose New Slide from the Formatting toolbar.
