Restricting Changes to a Document

When you share a document with other people but don’t want anyone to make drastic changes to it, you can specify what they can and can’t do to the document.

Restrict Changes

  1. On the Home tab, after you’ve completed, proofed, and saved the document, click the Protect Document button, and choose Restrict Formatting And Editing from the menu.

  2. In the Restrict Formatting And Editing pane that appears, select this check box if you want to designate which styles can be used in the document.
