Checking the Word Count

Journalists, students, and even technical writers live by word, line, or page count. Ask an editor or a teacher what’s required, and the first words you’ll hear are "A 500-word article about...". Word makes it easy to keep track of how many words you’ve written by displaying the current word count on the status bar, but you can get additional information just by asking.

Check the Counts

  1. Look at the status bar and note your current word count.

  2. Click the word count on the status bar to display the Word Count dialog box.
