Creating a Table of Figures, Equations, or Tables

A technical document often contains a table that lists all the figures or illustrations that appear in the document, a separate list if equations are included, and yet another list if the document has numerous tables. If you’ve inserted captions for these items, Word can generate a table of figures, equations, and/or tables for you.

Create the Table

  1. With captions added to all your figures, click in your document where you want the table of figures to appear.

  2. On the References tab, click the Insert Table ...
