Creating a Side-by-Side Layout

A side-by-side layout is often used to present an item—a picture, a title, or a topic, for example—in one paragraph, along with a description or an explanation of the item in the adjacent paragraph. It’s easy to create this type of layout using a Word table. With a table, the contents of the two paragraphs are always side by side, regardless of their size or category.

Create the Layout

  1. On the Insert tab, click the Table button, and drag out a two-row-by-two-column table. Resize the columns to the size you need, and format each cell with the appropriate paragraph style.
