Formatting with Tabs

You can use tabs to position text horizontally on a line simply by pressing the Tab key. All you need to do is specify the location of each tab and the alignment for the tab stop. You can also set different types of leaders—dotted, dashed, or plain lines—that appear before the tab stop.

Set Your Tabs

  1. If the ruler isn’t already displayed, click the View Ruler button to display the ruler.

  2. Click in a paragraph, or select all the paragraphs in which you want to set the tabs.
