By default, Word displays text in one column, but you can specify that text be displayed in two, three, or more columns to create layouts like those used in newsletters and brochures. In Word, a column is a block of text that has its own margins. When you create multiple columns, the text flows, or "snakes", from the bottom of one column to the top of the next. You can insert a column break to force subsequent text to move to the next column.
