Context provides a representation of the information that aligns with the way people view the work they do and the information created as a result of that work. Therefore, the three elements of the context equation are people, work, and information. When we consider that all organizations derive value from the information created during the course of operations, we begin to view the information as a type of asset—an information asset. Information assets are not unlike other assets from a life cycle perspective in that they enter into existence, are maintained, and are eventually removed.
