Summary

In this chapter we’ve explored the Business Data Catalog, a feature of SharePoint Server 2007 that allows you to connect to business data using an application definition file. Once the business application metadata is defined, you can use the data from those systems using the provided Business Data Web Parts, search, business data column and user profiles. This reduces the need to write custom code to access business data and provides standard methods of integrating business data, with data held within standard SharePoint Server 2007 sites, lists and libraries.
