15.5. Working with the Data Source Details Task Pane

After you create your data connection by using the Data Source Library task pane, you normally switch to the Data Source Details task pane, as shown in Figure 15.16, to work with the data provided by the connection.

The easiest way to open the Data Source Details task pane corresponding to a data connection is to click it and then click the Show Data menu option.

NOTE

If SharePoint Designer encounters an error while trying to display data from a previous data connection, it won't be able to refresh the Data Source Details task pane until it determines the data to display for the current data connection. The Stop icon in the standard toolbar is lit during this time.

The current data source you're working with is shown in the Current Data Source section at the top of the Data Source Details task pane.

In the following list, the data (with values) from the data source is displayed. If there are multiple items, you can view them by using the left and right arrows in the top-right corner in the list. You can hide the data values by deselecting the Show data values check box, which gives you a little more real estate to work within the list if you have a large number of fields and columns displayed. The Related Data Sources menu shows the list of related data sources and allows for linking the shown data source to others.
