Adding Office 2013 to the Windows 8 desktop

You initially launch the Office 2013 app you want to use from the Start screen, but it opens on the Windows desktop. If you prefer, you can pin your favorite Office 2013 apps to the Windows desktop so that you can launch the programs directly from there.

Add Office 2013 to the Windows 8 desktop

  1. On the Windows 8 Start screen, scroll to the far right side of the Office app tiles.

  2. Right-click or swipe down the Office 2013 app that you want to add to the desktop taskbar.

  3. Click Pin To Taskbar.

  4. Scroll to the left and click the Desktop app.

    File Explorer appears.

  5. In the taskbar, click the Office 2013 app icon to start it.
