Archiving Outlook Data Files

Old messages, tasks, and other items have a tendency to pile up unless you clean them out. Outlook provides an AutoArchive feature that lets you specify how often Outlook should clean out old items, where it should place those items (or whether it should delete them), which items to move, and so on. If you choose to archive items rather than delete them, Outlook places them in a PST file of your choosing. You can then recover them by opening that set of folders and copying the items back to your regular folders or by using the Import feature in Outlook to import from the archive file.
