Chapter 16. Using LDAP Directory Services

Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is a standard for querying directory services. For example, you can query LDAP servers for the address, phone number, or other information associated with an entry in the directory. Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003 use LDAP as the primary mechanism for accessing the Active Directory directory service. Servers running Microsoft Exchange Server can also act as LDAP servers, allowing users to look up addresses and associated information in the directory.
