Retrieving Web Data from Excel

The World Wide Web is a great source of information. From stock quotes to product descriptions, many companies publish useful information on their Web sites. The most common structure used to present financial information is the table, which, like a spreadsheet, organizes the data into rows and columns. Excel 2007 makes creating a Web query easy by letting you copy data directly from a Web page into Excel and then create a query to retrieve data from the table you copied.

Retrieve Data from Web Pages

  1. Click the Data tab.

  2. Click From Web.

  3. Type the address of the Web page you want.

  4. Click Go.
