Renaming Worksheets

When you create a workbook, Excel names your worksheets Sheet1, Sheet2, and Sheet3. Those names are fine when you first create a workbook, but after you’ve added data to several worksheets, naming the sheet tabs will help you and your colleagues find the data for which you’re looking. As always, if you think of a better name for your worksheets, or even want to change the name of a worksheet temporarily to make it stand out, you can do so any time you want.

Change the Name of a Worksheet

  1. Double-click the sheet tab of the worksheet you want to rename.

  2. Type the new name of the worksheet and press Enter.
