Calculate an Average

An average is the sum of two or more values divided by the total number of values. With Excel, you can use the AVERAGE function to compute an average. Using the AVERAGE function is very easy — you can find out how to use the AVERAGE function in the Apply It section of this task. Excel also has functions that are more complex that you can use to compute an average. You can use the AVERAGEIF function to compute an average for data that meets the criteria you specify. For example, if you have a list that contains scores for several teams, you can use the AVERAGEIF function to compute the average score for the players on each individual team.
