Moving and Resizing the Plot Area

The plot area is the part of your chart that displays data, whereas the chart area is the area surrounding the plot area. You can use the mouse to change the size, position, and aspect ratio of the plot area. For example, if Excel puts a bigger frame around your chart than you want, select the plot area and drag it outward. If you don't like the default distribution of the plot area and surrounding white space, use your mouse to adjust it.

Figure 25-3 shows a chart in which the default aspect ratio of the plot area has been altered. The chart presents a forecast; it seems appropriate to put the plot area on the right side of the chart area, with a right-aligned caption on the left.
