Chapter 16. Sharing Workbooks

Individuals in workgroups often need to share workbooks. Excel provides tools to distribute workbooks on the Web or a network, protect parts of workbooks that shouldn’t be changed, and track and review the changes that have been made.

Publishing Excel Data on the Web

Excel makes it easy to save workbooks or worksheets for display on the Web. One advantage of publishing in this manner is that those who only need to view the contents don’t need Excel to open the file. All they need is a browser. You can also preview any Excel file as it will look if saved as a Web page.

To preview a file’s Web appearance

  1. Open the workbook in Excel (Figure 16.1).
