Summary

This case study presents a solution that uses .NET technologies to accomplish automatic notification. The most important design decision in this example is separating the Message Queuing logic from the rest of the application. This allows the instant notification to act as an enhancement to the core service and dodges several problems that would otherwise harm the overall maintainability and reliability of the system.

The next chapter considers another case study, one that shows how .NET distributed technology can allow clients to tap into the server’s processing power.
