Differences from the Full .NET Framework

Certain XML features can consume a lot of resources on a compact device, and in many cases, these features can be better utilized on the server side of an application. In line with this, the following features are not supported in the .NET Compact Framework:

  • Validation using Document Type Definitions (DTDs) or XML Schemas

  • Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) and XML Path Language (XPath)

  • The XmlDataDocument class
