Starting the Emulator Manually

If you want to start the emulator manually, without loading Visual Studio .NET, you can run the emulator as a stand-alone Windows application. The program, Emulator.exe, is found by default in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET\CompactFrameworkSDK\ConnectionManager\bin directory. Emulator.exe supports the following command-line options:

  • Image File

    The emulator requires an image file that defines the emulated operating system image. The supplied image files are found in the Images subdirectory of the directory where Emulator.exe is found.
