Chapter 7. Office Business Applications

When Microsoft and SAP announced their first joint project, now known as Duet, at the SAPPHIRE conference in Copenhagen in 2005, the press and the companies’ customers were excited. The joint project between both companies sought to bring SAP data from the back-end system via Microsoft Office to end users and information workers and was a huge success, with more than one million licenses having been sold to date to more than 400 enterprise customers. The first version shipped in 2006, making Duet the first real Office Business Application. Figure 7-1 traces the evolution of this product.
