Media Transcoding Gateway Vendor Examples
This list highlights the vendors that handle media transcoding between Lync and third-party endpoints:
• Cisco Advanced Media Gateway—The Cisco AMG is an expensive, hardware-based transcoding device.
• LifeSize UVC—The LifeSize UVC platform is considered a media quality “helper” more than a gateway. The UVC virtual platform is not a single point of failure and enables the call to continue even if it is not available.
• Radvision—The SCOPIA Video Gateway includes the ability to transcode between H.264 and RTVideo codecs. Multiple gateways can be placed together to add capacity as needed.
