Desktop Sharing

Desktop sharing in Lync 2013 is the capability to broadcast a Lync user’s desktop to another Lync client in peer-to-peer and conferencing scenarios. Lync Server 2013 utilizes the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) over RTP to deliver the desktop media stream between Lync users. Presenters can share any number of monitors that are used on the PC, as well as specify a single application to be shared.

Lync Server 2013 introduces performance tuning to the RDP codec used for desktop sharing in the Lync client. Specifically, Lync 2013 increases application sharing performance for applications with media. This can include CAD, and other applications that might include animations or high-quality graphics.
