File Share High-Availability

Microsoft recommends deploying file servers configured with Distributed File System (DFS) to provide high-availability of Lync Server file shares. DFS has been tested to support failover between file servers in the same datacenter. Although DFS itself can support replication across multiple sites, for Lync it is recommended that DFS be used only for redundancy in the site.

DFS is considered best-effort for file replication. Because of this, there is no published RTO objective or RPO commitment.
