SQL Server Dependencies

Lync Server, like many other Microsoft applications, depends on SQL as a Back End storage platform. With Lync Server 2013, SQL databases are used for topology, configuration, and application information. One of the primary differences between the Standard and Enterprise Editions of Lync is the Back End database configuration. With Standard Edition, a local SQL Server Express Edition database is automatically installed by the deployment wizard as part of the Lync installation.
