Summary

In this chapter we’ve seen how archiving works in Microsoft Lync Server 2010 and how it can be used to comply with regulatory compliances or to simply maintain a history of conversations used within an environment. By properly planning for the Archive Server role and by implementing it based on best practices, companies can enjoy the benefits of the Archive Server and can depend on it to be available should they configure it to be used in critical mode.

While the configuration and administration of the Archive Server role is relatively straightforward, it is still recommended that administrators familiarize themselves with this entire chapter before deploying the Archive Server role to reduce the chances of anything going wrong.
