For users of Office 2007 or higher, many Lync functions become available in other applications. By consolidating to a single unified contact store, it is no longer necessary to maintain contacts in multiple applications. Functionality works both ways for applications. For example, you can start an IM conversation from within Microsoft Word and share the application or you can send an Outlook message directly from Lync “14.” With this new release, Microsoft leverages its capability to integrate all of its application suites.
