E911 Support

In the early days of VoIP, one of the biggest challenges was providing useful 911 services. Although it was easy to reach 911, the problem was that through the virtualization of the phone services, it was difficult to determine where a call originated. In the case of an emergency where a user was able to dial 911 but not speak, it was almost impossible for emergency services to determine where the person was to send help. This functionality has been addressed through the concept of E911.

In E911, emergency signaling and location information is conveyed from the client through SIP trunks to a third-party partner for Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) routing. In the case of E911 with Lync Server, this no longer requires Pseudo ANIs ...
