Branch Office and Data Center Resiliency

OCS 2007 and OCS 2007 R2 shipped with a somewhat limited set of features to provide for continued services in the case of a system failure. Depending on the configuration, a failure of a local OCS server might have resulted in a loss of voice services for a branch office. A failure in a centrally deployed model might have resulted in clients losing all functionalities. Lync Server introduces several technologies and options that can result in only a small loss of noncritical services in the case of a branch or central failure.
