Topology Changes

Lync Server introduces a change in topology requirements from previous versions of Communications Server that must be taken into account when designing a Lync Server implementation. The introduction of Communications Server Sites, the separation of the Audio/Video (A/V) conferencing role from the Front End role, the modifications to the Director role, and the integration of the Mediation role noticeably affect how Lync Server is deployed compared to OCS 2007 or OCS 2007 R2.
