Toll Bypass

A popular use of VoIP systems such as Lync Server is the capability to bypass some long-distance toll charges through the use of call routing. For example, if a company has an office in San Francisco and an office in New York and these two locations are on a common WAN call between the sites, which are routed internally via Lync Server and VoIP, the call is effectively free because the data network is already paid for.

If, on the other hand, a user in San Francisco needs to call an external user in New Jersey, there are two ways to handle this call.
