Toll Bypass
A popular use of VoIP systems such as Lync Server is the capability to bypass some long-distance toll charges through the use of call routing. For example, if a company has an office in San Francisco and an office in New York and these two locations are on a common WAN call between the sites, which are routed internally via Lync Server and VoIP, the call is effectively free because the data network is already paid for.
